Speedrite bullnose strainer (10 pack)
Pack of 10 insulated bullnose wire strainers with galvanised steel frame and cast aluminum spool, for tensioning high tensile fence wire.
Details
A bullnose strainer is a permanent tensioning point built into the fence. It combines a galvanised steel frame with a cast aluminum spool and a heavy duty insulator, so it takes the strain of the wire and keeps it electrically isolated at the same time. It is UV stabilised, and the galvanising matters in country that spends half the year wet and the other half freezing. The reason to fit strainers rather than just pulling wire tight and tying it off is that a fence does not stay where you put it. Frost lifts posts, wire contracts in a cold snap and slackens off in summer heat, and stock leaning on a line stretch it. With strainers in place, taking up slack is a job with a handle rather than a job with a splicing tool. Fit them into each hot wire, and use the Speedrite strainer handle to wind them up. Ten to a pack covers a decent length of fence with a strainer in every strand. Do not crank high tensile wire drum-tight in warm weather — leave room for it to shrink, or you will be replacing corner assemblies after the first hard freeze. The strainer handle is sold separately.
