Details
Some cattle are managed as a group and some are managed one at a time. When it is the second kind, the tag stops being a category marker and becomes a name, and a white background gives a printed number the cleanest reading of any colour on offer. That suits operations capturing data at the chute, anyone whose records are built around individual performance, and yards where numbers get read off a photo or a video sent from the pen. It also pairs well with a coloured tag in the opposite ear: colour on one side for the group, white on the other side for the animal. Nothing competes for attention and both jobs get done. The sequence runs 1 through 1000, printed at the factory, so an entire intake can be processed without anybody touching a marker. These are one-piece Z Tags in the compact feedlot size with the self-piercing cutting tip, applied in a single squeeze with the Z Tags one-piece applicator. The number is readable from both sides of the ear. These handle management and visual ID. They do not replace an approved CCIA tag.
