Details
Purple is not a colour most herds use as their main tag, which is exactly what makes it useful. Put it on the purchased cows, the recips, the late calvers or the ones you have flagged to cull, and you can find them from the truck without reading a single number. These are blank Z1 one-piece calf tags, 25 per package, so you write the numbers yourself with a livestock tag marker. Doing them at the house ahead of time and running them in order keeps the chute moving and cuts down on mistakes in the book. The Z1 goes on with a one-piece applicator and a single squeeze, with no male and female pieces to match up in the cold. The self-piercing tip cuts a small hole rather than punching one out, the applicator pin pivots to reduce tearing if the calf throws its head, and the flat back gives brush and wire nothing to hook.
