Details
Green works well as a base colour in a herd that already runs several tag colours. It is quiet enough that it does not compete with a high-visibility tag you have put on a treated or flagged animal, so a green tag reads as ordinary and everything else stands out. The tags come blank, 25 to a package, so you number them with a livestock tag marker to whatever system your records use: dam number, sequential calf number, or year plus number. Doing them ahead and stacking them in order saves a lot of standing around at the chute. The Z1 is a one-piece tag, so there is no male button to line up and no back piece to snag on brush, wire or a bale feeder. The self-piercing tip makes a clean small incision and the applicator pin pivots to reduce tearing. Use them for visual herd management. They are not a substitute for an approved CCIA tag.
