Details
Corral work happens in bad conditions. Dust hanging in the alley, a low sun, everybody in a hurry and cattle moving faster than you would like. Red is one of the few colours that still registers under all of that, which is why it tends to get assigned to the animals you cannot afford to miss. On most places that means the treatment list. A cow you have doctored, a calf that has been pulled once already, or anything you want a second look at before it goes through a gate. When the tag is red the decision gets made from ten feet away instead of after you have already committed the animal to the wrong pen. One caution worth stating plainly: red on a red hide is harder to pick out than red on a black one, so match the colour to the cattle you actually run. These are Z Tags one-piece feedlot tags in the compact size, self-piercing, no button to assemble, fifty blank per bag and applied with the Z Tags one-piece applicator. Management and visual identification is what these are for. They are not a substitute for an approved CCIA tag.
