Details
Sexing calves by tag colour is the oldest colour system there is and it still saves more time than any other. Pink in the left ear, blue or yellow in the right, decided in the first day of life while you are already down there with the calf. Six months later you sort heifers off in a pen without touching a record book. What makes it worth doing properly is that the decision gets made once, at the only moment you are certain, rather than reconstructed at weaning from a scale ticket and somebody's memory. Pink is legible against black hides in particular, which covers most of the calves born in this country. The tag is the one-piece Z Tags feedlot design, small enough not to hang up on a headgate or a hay feeder, with a self-piercing tip and nothing to assemble in a glove. Fifty blank tags to a bag, numbered with a tag marker and set with the Z Tags one-piece applicator. This is a management and visual identification tag, not a substitute for an approved CCIA tag.
