Details
Two-piece tags rely on the applicator pin to push the male stud cleanly through the ear and into the female button. When the pin dulls or bends, the stud goes through at an angle, the button does not seat properly, and you end up with tags that fall out in the first month. This is the replacement pin for the universal two-piece applicator, not the one-piece No-Snag tool. The two use different pins and they are not interchangeable, so it is worth confirming which tagger is hanging in the shop before you order. Change it on a schedule. A pin is cheap next to the labour of re-tagging cattle you have already run through once, and the failure almost always shows up in the middle of a big day rather than at the start of one. Wipe the jaw down and look the pin tip over before processing, the same as you would with anything else you are counting on that morning.
