Details
Purple is useful on small stock for the same reason it is useful on cattle. Nobody else is using it. On shared pasture, at a community handling day, or where two flocks graze either side of a fence, an uncommon colour sorts ownership without anyone reading a number. The small animal tag is a compact flag, considerably smaller than a cow tag, which is the right proportion for a ewe, doe or lamb. Fifty blank tags per bag covers a season and leaves the numbering to you. Application is the same one-piece method used across this line. The tag makes its own hole as the applicator closes, since the piercing tip is moulded into the point, and there is no separate button. Handling small stock usually means holding the animal with one arm and working the applicator with the other, so having nothing to assemble is more than a convenience. These are management and visual identification tags. They are not a substitute for an approved traceability tag.
