Details
Orange is the colour that survives a western Canadian winter visually. On sheep and goats that means counting a group through a snow squall from the truck instead of walking in among them, and it works just as well against bare brown ground in November. The tag itself is the small animal size, a compact flag well under half the area of a cow tag, which is what makes it suitable for a lighter ear. It goes in the same way as the rest of the one-piece line. The point of the tag is the piercing tip, so it makes its own hole as the applicator closes and there is no button to fit behind the ear. Fifty tags to a bag, blank, so you set the numbering. On smaller stock a lot of people write big and simple, since these get read at distance in a crowded pen far more often than they get read in a chute. These are management and visual identification tags. They are not a substitute for an approved traceability tag.
