White is the choice when the number matters more than the colour. Black marker on white gives the sharpest contrast in the range, which is worth something if you read tags through binoculars from the truck or write three digit numbers on a big herd. The trade-off is honest. White does not jump out of a snowbank the way orange or chartreuse does, and it shows dirt. A lot of operations live with that because they are reading numbers, not colours. If you already colour-code by year on the calf tags, keeping the cow herd in white leaves the colour system to the calves where it does the work. These are the mature cow size and come blank, twenty-five to a bag. One-piece construction with the piercing tip on the point of the tag, so it seats in a single squeeze and leaves no button on the back of the ear. These are management and visual identification tags. They are not a substitute for an approved CCIA tag.
