Red reads as a warning almost everywhere else on a farm, and plenty of people use it the same way in the ear. A red tag goes in the cow with the bad quarter, the one that took two days to claim her calf, the one you already decided is going down the road. Come sorting time you are looking for a colour, not reading a list off your phone in the wind. It is the mature cow size, blank on both sides, twenty-five to the bag.
