Red reads as a warning almost everywhere else on a farm, and plenty of people use it the same way in the ear. A red tag goes in the cow with the bad quarter, the one that took two days to claim her calf, the one you already decided is going down the road. Come sorting time you are looking for a colour, not reading a list off your phone in the wind. It is the mature cow size, blank on both sides, twenty-five to the bag. Against black or red hair it still separates because it is a flat block of colour, and it stays visible from behind in the alley. The one-piece build matters here because these tags often go in cattle that get handled more, not less. The self-piercing tip means one squeeze of the applicator, no button to load, and nothing sitting behind the ear to snag when she pushes through a crowd gate. These are management and visual identification tags. They are not a substitute for an approved CCIA tag.
