Details
Pink is not a colour anything else in the yard is. That is its main use. When a colour has one job on your place, you can pick that animal out at a glance without reading a number at all. Some people put pink on the recips, some on the cows bred to a particular bull, some on every female kept back in a given year. The tag is the mature cow size with a large flag, which gives you room for a two or three digit number in marker without crowding the edges. It is a one-piece tag with the cutting tip built into the point. There is no button, no back half to fish out of a coat pocket with cold hands, and nothing protruding behind the ear once it is set. These are management and visual identification tags. They are not a substitute for an approved CCIA tag.
