Details
This is the cow-size Z1, a bigger flag than the calf tag so you can put a large number on it and still read the animal from the far end of a pasture. It is the right size for mature cows, bulls and anything you want identified at a distance rather than in the chute. The tags come blank in a 25-pack so the numbering is yours. Write them ahead with a livestock tag marker, put the number on both sides, and sort them before you start processing. Blue is easy to pick out at range and is a common choice for one year in a calving-year colour rotation, which lets you age a cow without catching her. The one-piece build has no separate male button and no back piece sticking out behind the ear, so brush, wire and feeder rails have nothing to hook. The self-piercing tip makes a small clean incision that closes in around the stem, and the applicator pin pivots as it goes through. Herd management and visual identification use only.
