Details
On most places a red tag means something. It goes on an animal that has been treated, one headed for the cull list, or a replacement heifer you want to spot from the gate. A colour that carries a meaning is worth more than a number you have to get close enough to read. The tags come pre-stamped in sequence out of the 1 to 200 range, so there is nothing to write out ahead of time and nothing to rub off. The numbers are large and dark with a long neck below the flag, which is what makes them readable at an angle or from the truck. The Z1 one-piece design has no rivet, no separate button, and no back piece sticking out behind the ear for wire, brush or a feeder rail to catch. The self-piercing tip makes a small incision that heals in snug around the stem, and the applicator pin pivots as it passes through to reduce tearing. Management and visual ID tags only.
