Purple is rare enough in most herds that it does a job on its own. Put it on the bought-in cows, the recips, the late calvers or a leased bull group and you can pick them out of a full pasture without reading a number. It is also a good second-tag colour if you already run yellow and pink. The set comes stamped in sequence from the 1 to 200 range, which means no writing tags out beforehand and no faded marker two winters later. Pull them in order, tag in order, and record the pairs as you work through the calves. These are Z1 one-piece tags, applied with the one-piece applicator in a single squeeze, with no rivet or back button to line up in the cold. The self-piercing tip cuts a small clean opening rather than punching out a plug, the applicator pin pivots through the ear, and the flat back leaves nothing for brush, wire or a bale feeder to hook.
