If you already run blue and green tags, turquoise gives you a third cool colour that still reads as its own thing at a distance. That matters when you are colour-coding by calving year and you have four or five years of cows in the same pasture. These come blank in a 25-pack. Number them with a livestock tag marker so they match your records, and do it before you are standing at the chute. Blank tags also let you write a dam number, a treatment date or a birth date on the back if that is how you keep track. The Z1 one-piece design has no separate button and no back piece protruding behind the ear, so there is nothing for brush, wire or a feeder rail to catch. The self-piercing tip makes a small clean opening and the pivoting applicator pin reduces tearing when a calf ducks. These are visual management tags, not approved CCIA traceability tags.
