Tru-test XRP2 eid reader
A panel reader that captures EID tags hands-free as stock walk past, storing 20,000 tags and sending them to a weigh scale indicator by Bluetooth.
Details
A stick reader needs a person holding it. Once the volume is high enough, or the crew small enough, that person becomes the bottleneck. A panel reader takes the tag as the animal walks by and nobody has to be standing there at all. The XRP2 reads all ISO HDX and FDX-B tags, at up to 1000 reads per minute for FDX and 850 for HDX, and stores up to 20,000 tags in memory. Read distance depends on the antenna: about 1 m from a single large antenna, about 700 mm from a small one, and close to double either figure with two antennas on the dual antenna adaptor. Antennas are ordered separately and are plug and play with automatic tuning. Power comes from either a 12 to 24 V battery or the supplied mains adaptor, which is what makes it workable at a remote race as well as in a shed. Tags transfer to a Tru-Test weigh scale indicator by Bluetooth Class 1 at up to 100 m, pairing automatically, or over the supplied serial cable where a wired link is preferred. The case is IP67 rated with double-walled construction and rubber corner buffers, which it needs in a race. For herds running EID for CCIA traceability, a panel reader on a gate or alley builds a record of what went through and when without anyone stopping to scan, and the same setup can drive weights and drafting once it is paired to an indicator.
