Tru-test XRP2 dual antenna adaptor
An adaptor that runs two antennas from one XRP2 panel reader, coming close to doubling read distance where a single panel leaves gaps.
Details
Missed reads are the quiet problem with panel readers. Nobody notices at the time. It turns up later as a session holding fewer animals than went through the race, with no way to tell which ones were skipped. Widening the read field is how that gets fixed. This adaptor lets a single XRP2 panel reader drive two antennas instead of one. Facing them at each other across a race, or stacking them to cover different tag heights, comes close to doubling the effective read distance and closes the dead spot in the middle of a wide alley. It works with both antenna sizes. Two large antennas suit a wide race or a gateway with cattle coming through at speed. Two small antennas are often the better answer in a narrow race, or in a sheep and goat setup where there is nowhere to mount a large panel but the range from a single small one is marginal. Set both antennas at the height the tag actually passes, which for cattle is lower than most people first guess, and test with a known tag held where an animal will carry it before the first real session. Steelwork near a panel affects the field, so a check after mounting is worth more than an assumption.
