Once an operation is recording more than a weight, the indicator stops being a display and becomes the herd record. Treatments, condition scores, sire, pen, days on feed: if that data is not captured at the chute within a minute, it is not captured at all. The XR5000 is built to take all of it while the animal is standing there. Capacity is a million records across 1000 weighing sessions, with up to 100 data fields per animal. The 7 inch high-brightness screen switches between indoor and outdoor modes automatically, and setups can be built from predefined templates or saved as your own, so the screen only shows the fields that matter for the job in front of you. Drafting on weight criteria runs up to ten ways. For connections it has Bluetooth Class 1 out to about 100 m (300 ft), Wi-Fi, USB and mini-USB, plus a C16 port taking an adaptor cable for up to three simultaneous connections. That covers EID readers wired or wireless, auto-drafters, barcode scanners and printers at the same time. Data moves out by phone, USB stick or Windows software. The unit is 260 by 225 by 65 mm (10.25 by 9 by 2.5 in), weighs 1.75 kg (3.85 lb), and is IP67 rated with rubber bumpers on the corners. Battery gives around 10 hours with the backlight on and 13 with it off, recharging in about 7 hours. It reads any Tru-Test load bars or load cells without recalibration. Where EID is already in use for CCIA traceability, this is the indicator that turns those tags into a working herd history instead of a list of numbers.
