Tru-test XHD2 load cell system

Where a chute runs every day and gets treated accordingly, load bars eventually give up. Cattle slam the sides, wash water gets everywhere, and rodents find the cables. The XHD2 system was designed around those failures rather than around ideal conditions. It is four 2500 lb load cells giving 10,000 lb (about 4500 kg) in total, each cell 38 mm (1.5 in) in diameter and 279 mm (11 in) long, in extra heavy duty plated tool steel. The cells are sealed and plated for corrosion resistance, and the system is rated fully water, dirt and rodent resistant. Accuracy is plus or minus 1 per cent or two resolutions, whichever is greater, over an operating range of minus 10 to plus 40 degrees C (14 to 104 F). Wiring is individual cables into a junction box, with 8 m (26 ft) of four-core cable in a blue polyurethane jacket over a TPR conductor cover. Running each cell separately to a box is what makes the layout workable on an awkward frame, and it means a damaged cell can be dealt with without disturbing the other three. The system reads on any Tru-Test weigh scale indicator, though older indicators may need a span calibration. Mounting brackets for squeeze chute installations are ordered separately, two boxes per system. Cells can go under the chute or hang above it, and the same arrangement suits tilt and rotating chutes as well as large platform scales.
