Hauling water is the chore that never ends and never gets easier. An automatic waterer plumbed to a line ends it, and the difference shows up in the animals long before it shows up anywhere else, since stock drink more when the water is clean and always there. The WaterPro 2 holds up to 27 L (7 gal) and is rated for about 75 beef cattle or 75 horses. The tank is linear low-density polyethylene with long-term UV-8 stabilization, so it does not go chalky and brittle after a couple of summers in the sun. It measures 995 by 560 by 730 mm (39.2 by 22.1 by 28.75 in), drinking height is 550 mm (21.65 in), and it weighs about 39 kg (87 lb). Servicing was clearly considered in the design. Large stainless steel eyebolt fasteners open it without tools, there is a built-in water cut-off switch within reach, and the supply comes in on a half-inch braided stainless flex line. Valves are rated to 150 psi, and drain plugs let one side be sealed off when only half the unit is wanted in service. It carries an eight-year warranty. This is not a heated model. In central Alberta that means planning for winter, with the supply line below frost and either heat added to the installation or the unit taken out of service over the cold months. Set it on a firm pad with drainage away from the drinking area, because the ground around any waterer is where a yard turns to mud first.
