Tru-test SRS2i stick reader
A rugged EID stick reader holding 250,000 tags, reading all ISO HDX and FDX tags and sending them to a Tru-Test indicator over Bluetooth.
Details
Reading tags off a clipboard at the chute is slow, and it is where numbers get transposed. A stick reader takes the number straight off the animal and puts it into the indicator before the head gate opens, with nobody writing anything down. The SRS2i reads all ISO HDX and FDX tags, out to about 300 mm (12 in) for HDX and 330 mm (13 in) for FDX. It holds 250,000 scanned tags in memory, shows them on a 2.7 inch colour screen readable in sunlight, and vibrates in the handle to confirm a read, so you are not watching the screen while an animal moves past. It pairs by Bluetooth Class 1 to Tru-Test weigh scale indicators at up to about 100 m (300 ft), so the reader can be at the chute while the indicator sits where the operator works. It is compatible with all Tru-Test EID weigh scales. The body is IP67 rated, it weighs about 0.7 kg (1.6 lb), and it carries a two-year warranty. Battery life runs to roughly 9.5 hours of continuous reading, or 19 hours in single read mode, which covers a long day of processing. For operations tagging to CCIA standards, capturing the tag electronically at the same moment as the weight keeps the record complete without a second pass through the data. If you also want to record breed, sex, condition score and other fields on the reader itself, look at the XRS2i.
