Buying a scale piece by piece is where people come unstuck: bars that do not match the platform, an indicator that needs a cable nobody ordered, and a system arriving in three deliveries a fortnight apart. This is the whole weighing end in one box, matched at the factory. The kit is the S3 indicator together with a pair of MP600 load bars. The bars are 585 mm (23 in) long and carry 2000 kg (4400 lb) between them, which suits calves, yearlings, sheep, goats and hogs, and covers most cows. The indicator reads them out of the box with no calibration step. The S3 keeps no records of its own. Weights go by Bluetooth Low Energy to the Data Link or TagMax app on a phone, which is where sessions are stored and where they sync through to the Datamars Livestock platform. Both indicator and bars are covered by a two-year warranty, and the indicator is IP67 rated. One thing is not in the box: a platform. MP600 bars need something for the animals to stand on, usually the AP600 alleyway platform for cattle, the WP600 for smaller herds, or the 610 by 1220 mm (24 by 48 in) small animal platform for pigs, sheep and goats. Order that alongside and the system is complete on arrival.
