Details
Every electric gate needs two ends: something for the handle to hook into, and something that ties the gate wire back into the live fence. These do both. The insulated body keeps the current off the post, and the terminal takes the fence wire and the gate wire so the gate is energized when it is closed. Gate openings are where most electric fences quietly fail. A handle hooked over a bare staple, a gate wire twisted onto a rusty fence wire, and a winter of frost heaving is all it takes to leave the whole downstream run dead. Proper anchors give you a mechanical joint that stays tight and an insulated path that does not leak to the post. Sold two to a pack, which is one gate done properly. Mount them so the handle pulls straight rather than at an angle, and leave enough slack in the gate wire that it can be opened one-handed with a mitt on. Check the connections at both ends each spring when you walk the fence.
