Speedrite compression gate break (Blue)

This is the handle you grab a dozen times a day, so it is worth having a good one. The Speedrite compression gate break has a non-slip insulated grip with large guards between your hand and the live wire, moulded from high density UV stabilised polyethylene. The bright blue shows up against grass, mud and snow. The compression spring is what separates it from a plain handle. The spring is high tensile and compresses under tension rather than stretching, which stops the gate wire being over-stretched every time the gate is opened. A gate wire that gets pulled a little further each time eventually sags into the grass and shorts the fence out, and then you are troubleshooting a fault that was really just a worn-out handle. Fit it at the opening end of the gate wire with the anchor and insulator on the post. Take it by the grip and nowhere else. The polyethylene body is the right material for this climate — it stays flexible in the cold instead of cracking, and it does not chalk out and go brittle after a couple of summers of sun the way cheap plastic handles do.
