The Speedrite 6000i Unigizer puts out 6 joules and is rated to power up to 240 acres or 60 miles of fence. It runs on 110-volt mains, a 12-volt battery or solar, and Speedrite lists it as compatible with a 60 watt solar panel. The remote is included with this model. The "i" is what you are paying for. Alongside the same Cyclic Wave and bi-polar technology, large terminals and day/night sensor as the standard 6000, this unit adds an LCD voltage display, ground monitoring, and remote capability with the remote in the box. That remote is not a luxury when your energizer is in a yard shed and the fault is two miles out — you can switch the fence off and on from where you are working instead of driving back twice. Ground monitoring tells you when your earth system is falling short, which in this country happens every time the frost goes deep or the soil dries out in August. Size it with room to spare. The coverage rating assumes a clean fence and a good ground bed. Drifted snow on the bottom wire, frost-lifted posts and green growth all take voltage out of the line, so check at the far end of the run rather than trusting the reading at the terminals.
