The Speedrite 6000 Unigizer puts out 6 joules and is rated to power up to 240 acres or 60 miles of fence. It runs on 110-volt mains, a 12-volt battery or solar, and Speedrite lists it as compatible with a 60 watt solar panel. Six joules is enough energizer for a serious grazing operation — multiple quarters of cross fencing, a rotational system with a lot of temporary wire, or a permanent fence that has to hold cattle through calving. It uses Cyclic Wave and bi-polar technology, has large terminals that take heavy lead-out cable without fighting you, a day/night sensor, and indicator lights for fence voltage and battery condition. Those battery lights matter in winter, when a 12-volt battery at minus twenty-five has a fraction of the capacity it showed in September. Treat the coverage rating as a best case. It assumes good grounding, sound insulators and a clean line. Snow bridging the bottom wire, frost lifting posts until wire touches steel, and heavy summer growth all pull voltage down from the number on the box. Size with headroom, put in a proper ground bed, and check voltage at the far end of the run rather than at the terminals.
