The Speedrite 12000i Unigizer puts out 12 joules and is rated to power up to 500 acres or 90 miles of fence. It runs on 110-volt mains, a 12-volt battery or solar, which is what makes a unigizer worth the money on a place with pasture in more than one spot. This is a serious unit for serious mileage — community pastures, big rotational grazing systems, multiple quarters run off one box. It uses Speedrite's Cyclic Wave and bi-polar technology, has a day/night sensor so it can back off when stock are settled, and includes earth monitoring so you can see when your ground system is falling short. It is remote capable, though the remote is sold separately. Speedrite covers it with a three-year warranty. Coverage numbers assume a fence in good order. Long runs across frost-heaved country, snow drifted over the bottom wire and heavy summer growth will all pull voltage down from the rated figure, so size with some headroom rather than to the limit. Grounding is what makes or breaks a big energizer in dry or frozen soil — put in more ground rod than you think you need, and check fence voltage at the far end, not just at the terminals.
