On operations working to a written treatment protocol, the two things that get audited are whether the right animal was treated and whether anybody got stuck doing it. The VS system is built around both, with a lockable needle guard that covers the point between animals and a modular handle that accepts different dose chambers, so the protocol can change without buying a new gun. This kit is the tube-fed configuration with a 5.0 mL dose chamber and a 25 mm (1 in) needle guard. Tube fed means the bottle sits off the handpiece, which suits barn work where you are moving between pens with the bottle in a holster. The handle is reusable and dose chambers are sold separately in 0.5, 1, 2 and 5 mL, so the same handle covers several jobs. A two-stage trigger technique balances the gun and reduces fatigue over a long shift. Coloured bands are supplied so two guns in use at once do not get confused. Inlet and outlet valves are serviceable and replaced as a kit when the refill turns sluggish, and the ink stamp accessory fits this handle if you want a visible mark left around the injection site.
