Details
Most injecting on a working outfit sits somewhere under 5 mL, which makes this the barrel size that gets picked up the most and takes the most abuse. It is a tube-fed gun, so the bottle sits away from the handpiece and the weight you are actually holding stays the same from the first animal to the last. The dose is selectable from 0.5 to 5 mL in 0.5 mL steps. Because the collar indexes rather than slides, the setting survives the gun being set down on a rail, handed across a chute or dropped in the dirt, which is the practical reason to choose a selectable gun over a variable one when more than one person is using it. Run the line until it is clear of air before you start, and keep the tube pickup below the surface as the bottle drains. Cleaning is a warm-water flush through the barrel and the full length of tube, since product left to dry in the tube is what stiffens it and eventually cracks it. Ask your veterinarian which product is appropriate and follow the label for dosing.
