Foam solves a problem plain spray does not. When ants are running out of a gap in a foundation, a hollow door frame, a wall void or under a step, a liquid runs down and out of reach in seconds. Foam expands to fill the space, coats the surfaces inside it, and stays put long enough to contact insects deep in the void. For a nest you can locate but not reach, it is the right format. Use the applicator tube to inject into the opening rather than spraying at it. Watch for foam coming out somewhere unexpected — that tells you where the void actually leads, which is useful information. Around a house exterior, the usual targets are foundation cracks, expansion joints, gaps under siding, and the entry point of pipes and wiring. Foam is a knockdown and contact treatment, not a colony bait. If ants keep reappearing from new entry points, you are dealing with a nest that has not been reached, and a bait gel that gets carried home will often finish what foam starts. The two work well in sequence rather than side by side, since spray residue repels ants away from bait. This is a registered pesticide — follow the label for approved sites, species, and re-entry. Do not inject foam into electrical boxes or near live wiring, do not use it in a space you cannot ventilate, and keep it away from food-preparation surfaces. Aerosols are flammable: never use near a pilot light, open flame or heat source. Store upright, above freezing, out of sun and out of reach of children.
