An aerosol is what you reach for when you want something dead now. Sprayed directly, it knocks down ants and cockroaches on contact, and applied along cracks, baseboards, door thresholds and behind appliances it leaves a residue that keeps working on insects that cross it afterward. For a visible trail coming in under a door, or roaches scattering when you turn the light on, this is the fast tool. Understand the trade-off against bait. A spray kills what it touches and repels what it does not, which means it can scatter a roach population deeper into a structure and can prevent ants from carrying bait back to the nest. The usual sensible approach is to spray entry points and the outside perimeter, and bait indoors where the nest is. Doing both at the same spot works against you. Treat it as the registered pesticide it is. Read the label for approved sites, target species, ventilation, and how long to keep people and pets out. Cover or remove food, dishes and pet bowls before spraying, keep it out of fish tanks and off surfaces where food is prepared, and do not use it in a space where you cannot ventilate afterward. Aerosols are flammable and must never be sprayed near a pilot light, open flame or hot element. Also worth remembering: cockroaches indoors mean food, water and harbourage are available. Sealing gaps, fixing drips and cleaning behind appliances does more for a lasting result than any can of spray. Store the can upright, out of sun, above freezing and out of reach of children.
