Eight gallons is one fill instead of three. For a full flock, or through a run of heat when birds drink far more than usual, that is the difference between a chore and an afterthought. Same double wall galvanized construction as the smaller sizes. Water feeds from the sealed reservoir down into the trough and holds its level as birds drink, with no float or valve in the system to fail. Weight is the real consideration. Full, you are looking at roughly thirty kilograms, which is not something you carry across a yard. Decide where it lives, get it sitting level, and fill it in place with a hose. Check that it is dead level before you fill it. On a fountain this size a slight tilt wastes a surprising amount of water out the low side of the trough over a day, and rinsing the trough out stays a regular job regardless of capacity.
