Details
Chromic catgut is an absorbable suture material, supplied here with the needle already attached and twelve to a box. Having the needle swaged on saves threading a small eye with cold or bloody hands, which is a genuine advantage in field conditions rather than a marketing point. This is a professional surgical supply. What gets sutured, when, with what material and by whom is for your veterinarian to decide, and a good many things that look like a simple closure are not. Talk to your vet about what belongs in your kit, and about the situations where the right answer is a phone call rather than a needle. Store the packets somewhere clean, dry and reasonably cool, keep the sterile packaging sealed until the moment of use, and watch the expiry printed on the packet. A vet box that lives in a truck sees a lot of heat in July and a lot of frost in January, and neither does supplies any favours. Restock after every use so the box is complete the next time you open it in a hurry.
