Details
Half an inch at 20 gauge is the smallest needle in the D3 range: shallow, fine, and about as little disturbance as you can put into an animal. It is for work just under the skin on lambs, kids, small pigs and young stock, where a longer needle would go straight past where you meant to stop. Short shaft and thick wall make it one of the least breakable needles on the shelf, but the D3 detectability is still there if the worst happens, with the design made to be identified by x-ray or magnetic technology at line speed. The hub is brass with the gauge stamped in, and it ships in a red cartridge with an ISO colour-coded, tamper-evident seal. Disposable, 100 to the box. Because there is so little needle here you have very good feel for where the point is, which is the reason to use it on small animals rather than reaching for something longer and guessing. The flip side is that it dulls quickly on tough skin. Change them freely, keep a sharps container in the pen, and take product questions to your veterinarian or the label.
