Details
Three quarters of an inch is a short needle with a full-size bore. That combination is aimed at work under the hide rather than deep in muscle, on cattle heavy enough that a 5/8 does not clear the skin properly. It keeps the fluid path wide while keeping the point shallow. Ideal uses a regular-wall stainless cannula with a computer-ground tri-bevelled tip and an anti-friction coating, seated in an ISO colour-coded aluminum hub. The cartridge carries a tamper-evident seal. Sterile, single use, 100 per box. Short needles are easier on everyone at the chute. Less shaft sticking out means less to bend when an animal drops or swings, and less chance of the hub twisting off in your hand. They still dull, though, and a dull short needle skips off tough winter hide instead of going in. Change them often, keep the equipment clean, and use a sharps container. What goes through the needle, and where it should go, is a question for your veterinarian or the product label.
