Ideal Calf Eze Calf Puller
Aluminum-bodied calf puller with a non-slip cam traction system and two alternating pulling points, weighing around seventeen pounds.
Details
The Calf Eze uses two pulling points that advance alternately, shifting the pull from one leg to the other rather than dragging both at once. That walking action is the point of the design: it works with the way a calf actually comes rather than hauling straight and steady on a stuck shoulder. Traction is held by steel cams instead of a grooved ratchet shaft, so there is no notch to jump and nothing to wear into a set of teeth. The jack body is a special-strength aluminum and the unit weighs about seventeen pounds, which matters at three in the morning when you are carrying it across a yard in the dark and then holding it in position. Steel components carry the load where load needs carrying. It is suggested for use with two 45 inch OB chains, sold separately. A calf jack is a serious tool and it does not know when to stop, so the operator has to. Know the limits of what should be pulled and when to call your veterinarian instead, and make that call early rather than after an hour. Keep the rods clean and dry between calvings, and store it somewhere it will not seize up over summer.
