Details
The foaming jet is what makes a wasp spray usable on a nest you actually have to deal with. A stream reaches from a good distance, so you are not standing under the eave when the nest reacts, and the foam expands to cover and seal the nest opening rather than misting away in the wind. Wasps trying to leave have to come out through treated foam. Actives are d-trans allethrin for fast knockdown, permethrin for residual kill, and n-octyl bicycloheptene dicarboximide, which increases the effectiveness of the others. This is a registered pesticide. Read the label — it lists the pests and the sites it is registered for, the personal protection required, and the restrictions — and follow it, because the label is the legal condition of use. Practical advice earned the hard way. Treat at dusk or after dark when the whole colony is home and wasps are least active. Wear long sleeves, and know your exit before you start rather than working it out afterward. Never spray a nest from a ladder; wasps come at you and a fall does more damage than the stings. Do not treat a nest inside a wall void and then plug the hole — wasps will find another way, and that way is often into the house. Anyone with a known sting allergy should not do this job at all. Hire it out. Keep the can away from heat, sparks and open flame, keep it off skin and out of eyes, and keep children and pets out of the treated area as the label directs. Do not spray near feed, water or livestock.
