A residual insecticide formulated for horses, intended to keep working after application rather than only killing what it lands on. For anyone who has sprayed a horse in the morning and watched flies settle on it by noon, that is the difference that matters. Fly pressure on horses is not a cosmetic problem. Constant biting drives stamping and tail-swishing that wears feet and rubs tails raw, spreads eye problems between horses, keeps a horse from grazing and resting properly, and makes a normally sensible animal difficult to handle. Read the label before use and follow it. It states that the product is for horses, and that matters — never assume a product registered for horses is safe on cattle, dogs, cats or anything else. It also gives the application method, the interval between applications, where on the animal it may and may not be used, and any restrictions. Those are legal conditions. Work it in with the hair rather than misting the surface, and do the areas that matter — shoulders, barrel, legs, belly. Use a cloth around the face and never spray toward the eyes. Introduce the spray to a horse that has not been sprayed before at a distance, on a lead rope, rather than surprising it. Test on a small patch on a horse with sensitive skin before doing the whole animal. Fly control still starts with management: pick up manure, drain standing water, use traps, and stable during peak fly hours if you can. Store away from heat and flame, out of the sun.
