If your horse has no metabolic concerns and holds condition normally, Omneity is the usual starting point. If your veterinarian is managing a metabolic condition, or your horse is an easy keeper on a restricted diet, AminoTrace+ is the one Mad Barn built for that job. What Omneity is
Mad Barn describes Omneity Premix as an all-in-one equine vitamin and mineral supplement formulated with 100% organic (chelated) trace minerals, B-vitamins, amino acids, digestive enzymes and a live yeast culture for probiotic support. It is designed to balance a forage-only diet or to complement a grain feeding program, and Mad Barn states that no other mineral and vitamin supplement is needed when it is fed daily.
Points from the label and product page worth knowing:
- Amino acids. It supplies lysine, methionine and threonine — the three amino acids Mad Barn identifies as most commonly limiting in a horse's diet.
- Biotin. The Premix delivers 20 mg of biotin per serving, the level Mad Barn cites as clinically shown to improve hoof quality.
- Digestive support. Digestive enzymes plus Yea-Sacc® Extra live yeast culture.
- Vitamin E. Included at high levels as an antioxidant.
- No added sugars, artificial sweeteners or fillers. Low-NSC ingredients.
- Feeding rate (Premix). Mad Barn's analysis is based on a 500 kg (1,100 lb) horse at 120 grams per day. A 5 kg bag is listed as 41 servings and a 25 kg bag as 208 servings.
Mad Barn also notes that if you feed less than about 4 kg (9 lb) of a commercial complete feed per day, a supplement like Omneity may be needed to cover the vitamins and minerals that feed would otherwise supply.
Omneity Premix (powder) vs Omneity Pellets
Same nutritional purpose, two formats. The Premix is a powder, which Mad Barn positions as the most flexible and most economical way to feed the formula; it is top-dressed on a small carrier such as soaked beet pulp or hay cubes. Omneity Pellets carry the same organic trace minerals, B-vitamins, amino acids, enzymes and live yeast in a pelleted form that Mad Barn describes as palatable and easy to feed — handy for fussy eaters, for barns that feed from a scoop, or where a powder blows away in the wind. Because the pellets include a low-NSC carrier, the serving is larger: a 5 kg bag of Pellets is listed as 25 servings, versus 41 servings for 5 kg of Premix.

What AminoTrace+ is
Mad Barn describes AminoTrace+ as a low-NSC vitamin and mineral supplement for horses that need advanced nutritional support for hoof growth, metabolic health, muscle function, antioxidant protection, immune function and digestive health. The product page states it was formulated to ECIR group specifications as a low-NSC ration-balancing supplement for horses with insulin resistance, Equine Metabolic Syndrome and/or PPID (Cushing's disease).

- Enhanced nutrient levels. 100% organic trace minerals with elevated copper and zinc, which Mad Barn links to hoof and connective-tissue support.
- No added iron. Many forages and feeds already supply plenty of iron; AminoTrace+ leaves it out.
- Low-NSC pellet. Only low-NSC ingredients are used to make the pellet and there are no added sugars.
- Palatability. Formulated as a pellet so that horses on restricted diets actually eat it.
- Feeding rate. Mad Barn's analysis is based on a 500 kg (1,100 lb) horse at 200 grams per day. A 5 kg bag is listed as 25 servings and a 20 kg bag as 100 servings.

Which one does your horse need?
Pick Omneity when your horse is in normal body condition, has no diagnosed metabolic issue, and you want one product to cover vitamins, minerals, amino acids and hoof-supporting biotin on a hay or pasture diet. Choose Premix if you already feed a small mash or beet-pulp carrier; choose Pellets if you want something you can scoop straight into a bucket.
Pick AminoTrace+ when your veterinarian has flagged insulin resistance, EMS, PPID or laminitis risk, or your horse is an easy keeper on a low-sugar, low-starch program. Its elevated copper and zinc and zero added iron are the reasons metabolic-horse owners ask for it by name.
Don't feed both. Each is designed to be the only vitamin and mineral supplement in the diet. Doubling up doubles minerals you may not want doubled.

Frequently asked questions
Can I switch from Omneity to AminoTrace+ (or back)? Yes — they are alternatives, not a pair. Transition over several days as you would with any feed change, and check with your vet if the switch is because of a diagnosis.
Is Omneity safe for a metabolic horse? Omneity uses low-NSC ingredients with no added sugar, but AminoTrace+ is the product Mad Barn formulated specifically to ECIR specifications for IR, EMS and PPID. Ask your vet which fits your horse's case.
Why does AminoTrace+ have no added iron? Mad Barn states the formula deliberately omits added iron and instead elevates copper and zinc; mineral ratios matter for horses with metabolic concerns. The reasoning is explained on Mad Barn's product page.
