Details
Mad Barn NOCR is a four-ingredient botanical supplement for horses, made by Mad Barn Inc. of Kitchener, Ontario. This listing is the 1 kg pail. Active ingredients per 25 g serving, as printed on the label: Tienchi (Panax notoginseng) 2,000 mg; Milk Thistle Seed (Silybum marianum) 2,000 mg; Jiaogulan (Gynostemma pentaphyllum) 2,000 mg; Spirulina (Arthrospira platensis) 5,000 mg. Excipient ingredients: apple pomace, dextrose, citric acid. Directions for use, quoted from the label: "Consult with nutritionist or veterinarian prior to use. Top dress once daily on feed or ration." The body-weight table: under 200 kg, half a scoop (12 g); 200 to 500 kg, one scoop (25 g); over 500 kg, one and a half scoops (37 g). One scoop is 40 cc and holds 25 g. At the 25 g serving, a 1 kg pail is about 40 days of feeding. Shelf life on the label: 12 months from date of manufacture. Caution, quoted in full from the label: "For equine use only. Not for use in horses intended for food. Keep out of reach of children. This VHP may not be incorporated into a mixed feed. Do not use in pregnant or lactating animals. Do not use in animals receiving other drugs. Do not use in animals with cardiovascular disease, unless directed by a veterinarian. Do not use in animals with bleeding disorders." These exclusions are the most important lines on the page: NOCR is not for a pregnant or nursing mare, not for a horse on any other medication, and not for a horse with a bleeding disorder. VHP means a veterinary health product notified to Health Canada; it must be fed on its own, not mixed into a feed. Mad Barn's disclaimer: "These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease." Where to buy: Pipestone Farm Supply lists this product in Millet, Alberta (between Leduc and Wetaskiwin, south of Edmonton), with free in-store pickup and Canada-wide shipping. Set the feeding plan with an equine nutritionist or veterinarian, as the manufacturer directs. Two of NOCR's botanicals are also listed on this site as single-ingredient Mad Barn products: Jiaogulan and Milk Thistle, along with Spirulina. - Source: Mad Barn Inc. product information for NOCR (directions for use, active ingredients, caution, shelf life), madbarn.ca, viewed September 2026.
