Mad Barn Zinc Proteinate 15% is a single-ingredient zinc powder for horses made by Mad Barn Inc. of Petersburg, Ontario. The zinc is supplied as zinc proteinate, a chelated (protein-bound) form of the mineral. This is the 1 kg pack, about 200 of the manufacturer's 5 g servings. Guaranteed analysis, as the manufacturer prints it: zinc (Zn) 150,000 mg/kg, which is 750 mg of zinc per 5 g serving. Ingredients: zinc proteinate. Nothing else is in the tub. Directions for use, from the manufacturer: top dress once daily on feed or ration. Horses under 200 kg, half a scoop (2.5 g); 200 to 500 kg, one scoop (5 g); over 500 kg, one and a half scoops (7.5 g). One scoop holds 9 cc, which is 5 grams. Mad Barn states that the feeding rate for zinc varies with the horse's condition and current diet and offers a diet review by its own nutritionists to set the inclusion rate; its disclaimer states that the product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.
