Mad Barn OmegaPrime+ is an omega-3 oil for horses, sold here in the 19 L size. Mad Barn's active ingredient table gives, per 30 mL serving: a proprietary blend of flax and DHA oil 29.5 mL, DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) 6,000 mg, EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) 1,500 mg, ALA (alpha-linolenic acid) 6,900 mg and natural vitamin E (d-alpha-tocopherol) 750 IU. Directions for use, quoted from Mad Barn: "Consult with a nutritionist or veterinarian prior to use. Top dress once daily on feed or ration." The feeding table gives 15 mL for a horse under 200 kg, 30 mL from 200 to 500 kg and 45 mL over 500 kg; in imperial that is half a fluid ounce under 440 lb, one fluid ounce from 440 to 1,100 lb and one and a half fluid ounces over 1,100 lb. At the 200-500 kg rate of 30 mL a day, this 19 L container is about 633 days of feeding. Cautions, quoted in full from the manufacturer: "For equine use only. Not for use in horses intended for food. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use in animals with bleeding disorders, unless directed by a veterinarian. This VHP may not be incorporated into a mixed feed." The last two lines matter: it is a Veterinary Health Product that is fed as a top dress rather than mixed into a batch of feed, and it is not for a horse with a clotting problem unless a vet says otherwise.
