Tuff Stuff tank drain and plug 3/4" brass
A three-quarter inch brass drain fitting and plug, for putting a proper drain in a poly tank that does not have one.
Details
Emptying a stock tank without a drain is a miserable job. You bail it, siphon it, or wait until the stock have done the work for you, and the practical result is that the tank gets cleaned far less often than anyone intends. Fitting a drain is a one-afternoon change that alters the habit permanently. This is the 3/4 inch brass version. Brass is worth the difference over plastic in a fitting that lives outdoors: it takes years of sun, freeze and thaw without going chalky and brittle, it does not distort if somebody overtightens it, and the threads stay true so the plug keeps sealing after a hundred cycles. It fits through the tank wall and seals from both sides, with the plug threading into the fitting. Cut the hole carefully and low on the wall so the tank actually drains rather than leaving a few centimetres in the base, and put it somewhere you can reach without climbing in. Back the plug out and clean the threads occasionally rather than cranking it down against grit. That is what wears a drain out, and it is entirely avoidable.
