Tuff Stuff storage feed and seed 12 gallon
A 12-gallon feed and seed drum with a locking lid, holding a 23 kg bag of feed with the bag out of the picture.
Details
An open bag of feed in a barn is an invitation. Mice get into the top of it, damp gets into the bottom, the paper tears when you drag it and by the last third you are scooping off the floor. Tipping the bag straight into a drum solves all of that at once and takes about twenty seconds. This is the 12 gallon size, roughly 45 litres, which takes a 50 lb (23 kg) bag comfortably. It comes with a locking lid, and the lock is the part that matters. A loose lid is a lid that gets nosed off by a curious horse or knocked off by a raccoon, and a drum standing open is just a bag with better sides. The body is moulded plastic with a smooth interior, so feed does not catch anywhere and it wipes out between bags. There is nothing to rust, which is the failure point of the galvanised bins these replaced. Run it empty and wipe it out before you refill rather than tipping a new bag on top of the last few kilos. Old feed and fines settle at the bottom, and topping up indefinitely means the material at the bottom of the drum is older than you think.
