Round tubs earn their keep by being non-specific. This one gets bought as a water tank and ends up holding soaked beet pulp, wash water, ice for a branding day, or a hundred litres of grain under a lid. Nothing about it is committed to one job. It measures roughly 91 cm (36 in) across and 46 cm (18 in) deep, holding 242 L (64 US gallons). The wall is a smooth one-piece moulding, so there is nothing to catch on and nothing to snap off. Round also spreads the load evenly on soft ground, settling flat instead of tipping the way a long tank does. At 46 cm deep it is reachable for adult stock and most weaned young stock, though it is deep enough that you would not put very small animals near it unsupervised. If you are watering out of it, put it where you can get a hose to it without dragging the line through a gate. Note that the listed size is the outside measurement and can vary by 25 to 40 mm (1 to 1.5 in). If it is going into a tire, a frame or a cutout, take a tape to the tank you actually receive.
