Height is the problem with most stock tanks when the animals drinking from them are small. A yearling, a bunch of sheep or a pen of poultry cannot use a tank built for cattle, and a deep tank is a hazard for anything that can get in but not out. At roughly 28 cm (11 inches) deep, this one is low enough that small stock can reach it without climbing. Outside dimensions run about 71 by 51 by 28 cm (28 by 20 by 11 inches), holding 18 gallons, near enough 68 litres. The oval footprint tucks along a fence line or into the corner of a pen better than a round tub of the same volume, and it sits flat on packed ground without rocking. It is moulded from recycled low-density polyethylene. This size does not come with a drain plug fitted, and at 18 gallons it does not really need one. You tip it, which is the fastest way to empty a small tank anyway, and it means there is no fitting to seize up or weep. Dump and refill it rather than topping it up. Small tanks in warm weather go over quickly, and a tank you can empty by hand is a tank that actually gets emptied.
