A tail takes years to grow and an afternoon to ruin. A fine comb dragged through a knot pulls hair out by the handful, and the tail never quite recovers. The Super Tail Pick is built the other way around. The teeth are set wide, so they part a knot instead of tearing through it, and the handle is shaped to be gripped properly rather than pinched, which means you can work slowly without your hand giving out. The maker states it removes tangles and burrs with minimal hair loss and breakage. Start at the bottom of the tail and work upward, taking small sections. Burrs come out one at a time. A polish or a light oil sprayed in first makes the whole job faster and easier on the hair. It is cheap enough to keep one in the trailer and one in the grooming box, which saves the walk back to the barn.
