Shapley's Original M-T-G Plus
The same sulphur-and-oil mane, tail and coat liquid as the original, with a herbal fragrance added for anyone who finds the original scent strong.
Details
The smell is the reason this version exists. The original formula has a following that goes back decades, but it also has a scent that lingers on hands, on gloves and on the horse, and not everyone in the barn is willing to put up with it. Plus is the answer to that complaint. Underneath the fragrance it is the same product: sulphur carried in mineral oil, with cade oil, glycerin and zinc stearate. Shapley's states plainly that the formula is unchanged and that a herbal scent has simply been added. It separates on the shelf the way the original does, so shake the bottle well before every use. Use is identical. A small amount rubbed into the hair at the base of the mane, along the tail bone or into a patch of coat, left on rather than rinsed off. Most people apply it weekly on manes and tails. It is still an oil, so it will still mark a sleeve or a stall wall if you are careless with it. A degreasing horse shampoo takes it back out of the coat. Cap it tightly and stand it upright between uses.
