This puts the three ingredients most people end up buying separately into one pail: glucosamine as a cartilage building block, MSM as a sulphur source associated with comfort and soft tissue, and vitamin C, which the body uses in collagen formation. If you were going to feed all three anyway, one product is cheaper and one scoop is easier than three. Feed daily at the label rate in feed the horse cleans up. Joint nutrition is slow — give it a solid six to eight weeks before you judge it, and if there is genuinely no difference after a fair trial, stop rather than continuing out of habit. Compare the guaranteed analysis against a straight glucosamine product before assuming the combination is better value. Combination products sometimes carry less of the main ingredient than a dedicated one, and a low dose of three things can be worth less than an adequate dose of one. Look at grams per serving, not the label claim. Worth knowing: horses synthesise their own vitamin C and do not normally need it supplemented, so that ingredient is doing less than the label implies for most healthy horses. The glucosamine and MSM are the working parts. None of this treats a lame horse. Heat, swelling, a joint that fills, or a drop in performance means a veterinary lameness exam, where the answer might be rest, medication or an injection. Keep the pail sealed and dry, scoop out of the feed room dust.
